We are very pleased to announce that
Dr. Gordon U. Weber
Rechtsanwalt (Germany) and Attorney-at-law (New York State)
LL.M. (SMU, Dallas, Texas)
Maîtrise en droit des affaires (Rennes)
will join our firm effective 15 January 2026.
Gordon brings more than three decades of business law experience in multiple jurisdictions. He began his
career as Corporate Counsel for a leading U.S. semiconductor company in France before moving into a
global role in the United States. As General Counsel of SCHOTT AG, he played a key role in restructuring
the Carl-Zeiss Foundation. Since 2014, Gordon has served as Group General Counsel and Chief
Compliance Officer of DHL Group, the world’s largest logistics provider operating in more than 220
countries.
Throughout his career, Gordon has gained deep insight into the legal, regulatory, and strategic challenges
faced by global businesses. His experience includes negotiating IP-driven joint ventures, structuring
complex M&A transactions, and leading major patent enforcement and U.S. class action law suits. At
DHL, he built one of the world’s most comprehensive Compliance Management Systems, covering
antitrust, data protection, customs, export controls, and sanctions.
At REEG, Gordon will advise companies engaged in cross-border operations and support clients in
navigating growing regulatory challenges affecting global supply chains. His arrival underscores REEG’s
commitment to providing internationally informed and commercially and legally sustainable solutions.
Twelve years ago, we were all excited to move into our new offices right on the banks of the
river Rhine. And every day, we start work at this beautiful place with lots of joy. That is why
this year's Christmas and New Year's greetings come with a festive picture of Speicher 7, our
domicile.

Despite all the crises and disruptions, we have reason to be pleased. This year, we updated the
focus of our consulting services: Automotive became Mobility; in addition to road and rail
vehicles, this now also includes the aviation and aerospace industries. HighTech, IT and AI
topics were added to specialised mechanical engineering cases. The dynamics of the
commercialisation of sports prompted us to launch our new International Sports Business Law
practice. We were able to win new, interesting and sustainable mandates in all these areas.
Our practice in international arbitration law, with a particular specialisation in post-M&A
cases, led to a significant increase in appointments as arbitrators for the firm's partners. The
international nature of our services remains central. Numerous foreign corporations continue
to seek our advice on cross-border transactions and disputes.
In the new year, we will take on further challenges on current issues – very exciting news are
due to be reported as early as in January. We do look forward to this and to keeping in touch
with you.
We would like to thank our clients for their trust and for the pleasant cooperation.
To all of you happiness, good health and much confidence for 2026!
Happy New Year!
This morning (Dec 19, 2025), we were able to establish a German limited liability company (GmbH) through a Spanish company online for the first time. The notary was Mannheim based Dr. Maximilian Wosgien - https://www.notare-q7.de/notare-seeler-dr-fellmeth. The managing director of the Spanish shareholder did not have to travel to Germany and was able to complete all the formalities via video from his workplace in Barcelona. Considering the effort previously required for such formations from abroad, this was revolutionary.
We would like to thank notary Dr. Wosgien for the perfect implementation and are delighted that we can now offer this form of simplified company formation in the cross-border area to our clients from other EU countries.

Many thanks also to my colleagues Ricarda Fahrbach and Clara Badia Bogner for their very helpful support in this premiere!
This enables us to offer our foreign clients an ever-improving service!
On November 7 and 8, 2025, our colleague Clara Badia Bogner attended the annual conference of the International Sport Lawyers Association (ISLA) in Berlin. During the event, she attended numerous high-profile specialist presentations, including “NFL and Soccer Leagues: Similarities and Differences,” “CAS Jurisprudence 2024/2025,” and “Quo vadis eSports?”
Clara Badia Bogner also had the opportunity to visit Berlin's Olympic Stadium immediately before the NFL game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Atlanta Falcons.
The conference brought together leading experts in international sports law and provided a valuable platform for discussing current developments and legal challenges in the sector. Clara Badia Bogner made the most of this opportunity to gain new insights and strengthen her professional network. This exchange is an excellent starting point for the further development of our new specialization in international sports law.
We are delighted to congratulate our Spanish colleague Clara Badia Bogner on her outstanding achievement at the EuroHockey European Hockey Championships in Mönchengladbach.
After a series of exciting matches against strong international competition, Clara and the Spanish national team secured third place, winning the bronze medal behind the teams from the Netherlands and Germany.
This success is impressive proof of the Spanish team's dedication, team spirit, and performance.
We are proud to have Clara in our ranks, not only as a great athlete, but also as a dedicated and talented lawyer!</
Congratulations, Clara – ¡enhorabuena!

Ricarda Fahrbach has just published a new edition of the two articles “How to incorporate a GmbH (Germany)” and “Opening a Company Bank Account (Germany)”. First published in 2020 and 2021, respectively, in collaboration with Dr. Axel Reeg, the articles have been updated annually by our law firm ever since.
We always enjoy to support our international clients in setting up their companies in Germany. Together with our partners at Altehoefer - International Tax Consulting - https://www.altehoefer.com, we are also available to advise you on tax law issues relating to your company in Germany.

The new normal is marked by crises, disruptions and global uncertainty. This challenges our creativity and intercultural as well as cross-border experience. Our focus is still on preventive advice and customized contract drafting. But as the wind gets rougher, disputes – including before international arbitration tribunals - are on the rise. We are well prepared for this, especially in the international context, our domain.
In addition to restructuring and post-M&A issues, in 2024 we needed to handle several site closures for our clients. We are therefore truly more pleased to have new mandates in support of forward-looking projects and cutting-edge high-tech developments.
Our team has grown and become even more international: Nadine Biró has been working very successfully in labour law with us since March 2024. Our Mexico-City-based colleague Dr. Diana Sasse contributes her highly qualified advisory expertise in German Mexican commercial law. While in August, Clara Badia Bogner, a Spanish lawyer and native German speaker, was a successful Olympic participant with the Spanish national hockey team in Paris, she is now with us. And from the beginning of 2025, our clients will be benefitting from advice in the important area of business development support by public agencies through our new of Counsel Michael Grötsch who is highly experienced in this area. Finally, we are particularly pleased about the cooperation with the firm of Altehoefer - International Tax Advisory. This allows us to bridge the gap between international business law and international tax law.
We would like to thank our clients very much for the trust they have placed in us and do wish all of you happiness, satisfaction and good health. 2025 can come!
In August in Paris as an Olympian – now at REEG
As part of the Spanish women's Olympic field hockey team, Clara Badia Bogner was still playing for medals in Paris a few weeks ago. Since the beginning of September, the European junior field hockey champion and highly qualified Spanish lawyer has been part of our law firm team. Clara advises our clients on commercial law issues in Spanish, English, Catalan and, as a native speaker, of course also in German. At the same time, she plays in the first women's team of the Mannheimer Hockeyclub e.V (MHC), which is the current German champion.
Clara: “I am delighted that I can combine my profession as a lawyer with my passion for field hockey in an ideal way at REEG in Mannheim.”
Our law firm team is VERY HAPPY that Clara has joined us. We wish her double success - both as a lawyer and in field hockey at national and international level.

We welcome Diana Sasse as Of Counsel in our team!
Dr. Diana Sasse is attorney-at-law and admitted to the bar in Germany as well as in Mexico. As Of Counsel, she is part of our team and supports us with her great expertise especially regarding matters relating to Mexico. Dear Diana, welcome to our team - we are looking forward to working with you!
The Law Department at the University of Mannheim has appointed Ricarda Fahrbach, Jörg Fischer, and Axel Reeg to teach the English-language course “International Trade Law” as part of its Master's program in Comparative Business Law for the 2024 summer semester. The lecture will focus on approaches to resolving complex cross-border commercial law cases before German and foreign courts and arbitration tribunals.
ICC Conference on Arbitration in Latin America, Miami, November 2023 Axel Reeg has been one of the few regular German participants in the annual ICC Conference on Arbitration in Latin America in Miami for many years. This is the world's most important meeting for arbitration lawyers interested in Latin America. In November 2023, the conference took place for the 21st time with a record number of over 760 participants. Axel Reeg actively participated in the discussions on several occasions.

At the international Autumn Conference of the German Institution for Arbitration (DIS) on September 14, 2023, in Berlin, Dr. Axel Reeg was a speaker on the second panel on the topic “Should Settlements be Encouraged? – a Mock Deliberation.”
In August 2023, the Karlsruhe Bar Association granted Dr. Jörg Fischer permission to use the title “Fachanwalt für Handels- und Gesellschaftsrecht" (Specialist Lawyer for Commercial and Corporate Law).
This underscores Dr. Fischer's special qualifications for providing advice in this area.
On July 12, 2023, the first of a total of 79 new ICE-L trains manufactured by our client Patentes Talgo SLU was brought to Germany for test runs and trials. It was particularly gratifying for us that this first train crossed the Rhine just a few hundred meters from our office and entered Mannheim station.
Dr. Axel Reeg has been appointed co-leader of the Practice Group on Settlement Facilitation within the DIS Rules Clinic, together with Patricia Peterson (Paris), Ulrike Gantenberg (Düsseldorf), and Dr. Nicoletta Kröger (Hamburg).
In summer 2022, Ricarda Fahrbach was appointed by the Appointments Committee of the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS) as sole arbitrator in a commercial dispute. We congratulate Ricarda Fahrbach on her first arbitrator mandate.
Dr. Axel Reeg discussed the decision of the German Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof) of January 12, 2023 – I ZB 33/22 – in a brief commentary in the legal journal EWiR 2023, 446-448 (Decisions on commercial law).
In this decision, the Federal Court of Justice takes the view that foreign applicants must also provide security for legal costs when applying for a declaration of enforceability of arbitral awards in accordance with Section 110 of the German Code of Civil Procedure (ZPO).
Axel Reeg is critical of this decision, among other things because it is counterproductive to the goal of strengthening Germany as a place of arbitration.
From July 30 to August 5, 2022, Axel Reeg participated in the IADC Trial Academy at Stanford University. He was the only participant from a civil law jurisdiction and the only non-native English speaker. Among other things, the Trial Academy practiced the usual interrogation techniques used in US-style cross-examinations. He successfully completed the very challenging intensive training with the IADC certificate:

In October 2022, the German Frankenthal Regional Court partially dismissed a lawsuit brought by a well-known supplier of building blocks against our client for alleged trademark infringement by various mini figures in proceedings conducted by Ricarda Fahrbach on behalf of the defendant. With this decision, a court has recognized the fundamental possibility of alternative building block mini figures.
