Dr. Axel Reeg
Having studied Law at the National University of Singapore and the Universities of Munich and Freiburg, Axel Reeg worked for many years as a research fellow at a Max-Planck-Institute for foreign and international law. After completing his Ph.D. thesis on a topic of Spanish Law and almost four years as an associate in one of Germany’s leading law firms, he dedicated his professional life to the practice of International Business Law and established REEG Rechtsanwälte, a boutique law firm for InternationalBusinessLaw in Mannheim/Germany in 1993.
Having been admitted to the German and the Spanish bars for more than twenty years and with a clear understanding of Common Law systems, Axel Reeg may truly be described as an International Lawyer who loves the challenge of complex issues in the areas of cross border M&A, restructuring and contracts. His passion is international arbitration and he acts regularly as an arbitrator as well as Counsel for parties. In addition, he also handles litigation before state courts involving more than one legal jurisdiction.
His wealth of experience enables him to explore a wide variety of legal possibilities and provide solutions that are creative and commercially acceptable.
Axel Reeg delivers lectures on international commercial arbitration at the University of Heidelberg. He is the Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators for (continental) Europe, the incoming chairman of the German/Austrian Chapter of the Club Español de Arbitraje and an active member of many other international legal associations.
